The Collaboration Continues - "Beyond the Wire Basket; Tree Planting Standards"
Industry professionals from four green industry groups and Colorado State University will present their collective recommendations on tree planting standards for successful, healthy, and long-term viable trees in the landscape. Using sources from six organizations, the group identified seven topics to be considered: pre-planting practices, planting depth, size and shape of the hole, structural root depth, soil amendments, the wire basket, staking, and post-planting care. The organizations participating on the committee are the Colorado Tree Coalition, ASLA, CNGA, ALCC, and CSU. Dr. Jim Klett will facilitate the panel of three representatives as they discuss the process and present the standard they developed that intended to become a Best Management Practice for the industry.
